Bundesliga returns behind close doors

This Saturday marks the return of the bundesliga after over two months absence.

Fixtures will be played over the spell of this weekend with football fans able to watch spectacles including Dortmund vs Schalke 04, RB Leipzig vs Freiburg and Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich, live on BT sport.

The Deutschland Football League’s chief executive, Christian Seifert, stressed how this weekend is about “earning the right” to play again despite some disagreement over social media.

Many big- name footballers have personally come out in social media to indicate their disagreement with the restart of football during the current pandemic

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero (31) said: “”The majority of players are scared because they have children and families.”

With current English football disabled many fans have adopted their support to a Bundesliga side, some choosing smaller sides- they have a connection with or history with and some choosing to back the giants as such as Dortmund and Leipzig.

In terms of English football in the government’s statement on Monday, Boris Johnson indicated that Football could be resumed as early as June 1st but stressed will only pursue when safe.

Only time will tell for the return of British football but for now we’ll have to stick by German football and be relieved that normality is somewhat returning to the world.
