EFL update- Thousands to watch from home?

On Friday 27th March, Ricky Parry announced on behalf of the EFl that the league is planning to stream every football league game for fans once the league is resumed.

Football league’s Championship, League One and League Two were suspended due to Coronavirus midway through last month.

In addition to this the United Kingdom has been put under strict social distancing and isolation rules which have nearly been standing for a whole calendar month now.

Despite the number of cases dropping daily, PM Boris Johnson ‘fears second peak’ due to relaxing strict measures too soon.

This logically adds up as to why Parry wrote in his statement ‘a recommended return-to-training date of 16 May’ with this date provided being the earliest possible.

This situation can be said for almost every football league in Europe that had to be suspended indefinitely with some leagues returning to training like Bundesliga of Germany.

Astonishingly despite the outbreak, the Belurasian Premier League vowed to continue play, with fans still flooding into football stadium’s to support their sides in full voice.

Despite Parry’s statement regarding the return of the leagues and the ongoing settling of viruses, statistically, some British football fans are still in belief that an expulsion to the leagues would be the smartest and most responsible outcome.

One fan responded to the EFL on facebook very strongly.

Darren Massaro said: “Why don’t you just come out and say this season can’t be finished in time so null and void it is!”

Despite this there is many fans in support of the statement like Plymouth Argyle fan who said: “Please don’t burst our bubble.”

Many fans have demonstrated the desperation for the leagues due to long awaited promotions being in the line including Leeds United, Coventry City and Swindon Town.

The infographic below presents a compact viewing of Fans’ reactions to the statement on social media, the effect on football matches and the effect of the global pandemic virus in itself.
